Camera Rules

An important but easily forgotten rule of camera shots for amateurs is nose room. Nose room is the idea that the person in the shot should not have their nose close to the edge of the shot, but they should instead have nose room.

This is an example of no nose room.












This is an example of good nose room.












The rule of thirds is another important rule. It revolves around the idea that a camera shot is a 9 square grid. People's heads should never be in the bottom row, the left or the right column.
